Kim Furnish holds a master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology and is a Life Coach, Workshop Facilitator, Author and Laughter Yoga Practitioner.
Kim is passionate about self-awareness and personal growth and her expertise are in relationships, self-care and the work/life balance.
Her particular interest is in the relationship you have with yourself, what your passion is and whether you are living your life in line with your values. She is the Director of Instar Coaching C.I.C. which aims to use knowledge and skills of positive psychology to bring more positive emotion and less isolation to communities, leading to a happier, healthier life.
Positive psychology is the study of happiness, well-being and flourishing. Kim discovered that positive psychology helped to increase her levels of positive emotion, joy, awe, and happiness and gave her a sharper awareness of her own strengths. She has designed a programme of positive psychology education and interventions which she uses in her coaching practice and shares with her local community.
Kim Furnish lives in the New Forest and provides joyful activities, education workshops, group walking in nature and group laughter sessions to promote a flourishing life.

Kim is currently offering a 6-week course called Positive Psychology In Social Isolation, and will share the purposeful positive actions that you can take to improve your psychological well-being. Each week you will learn one aspect of Positive Psychology and some evidenced-based activities that will benefit you and your family. All activities have been designed to meet the particular challenges that Covid-19 has presented us with.
Week 1. How Positive Psychology can help you with social isolation.
Week 2. How you can boost your positive emotions and feel happier.
Week 3. How to identify and use your strengths to help yourself and others.
Week 4. The power of hope in adversity. How to grow hope.
Week 5. The importance of resilience when times are tough. How to raise resilience.
Week 6. The steps you can take to ‘be in flow’ and how it will increase your happiness.
To comply with the Government’s guidance on social distancing, the course is run online with the hosts Bryony and Kim, Positive Psychology coaches who would love to share their passion with you.
Cost: £40 for the 6-week course or £7.50 a week (one or two sessions)

GROUP THERAPY SESSIONS – Only after we are allowed to meet up in person again.
JOY WORKSHOP: Kim would love to share what she has learnt about positive psychology with you at a ‘Joy Workshop’. In the workshops, you will learn more about joy, self-compassion, gratitude, kindness and mindfulness.
FRESH AIR FRIDAYS: These actually take place on a Saturday, but are called Fresh Air Fridays as that is the feeling we get if we work Monday to Friday. Kim joins together the benefits of walking and coaching which can have a powerful effect on your mind and body. Each month there is a new topic to discuss such as being present, relationships, and filling yourself up.
LAUGHTER SESSIONS: These are an opportunity to play, be a child again and promote health and well-being. Short exercises encourage forced laughter which quickly turns into spontaneous laughter.

PRIVATE 1:1 SESSIONS
Kim Furnish works flexibly in her 1-1 coaching sessions. She can accompany you on your journey outdoors with walking coaching, or more traditionally indoors face to face or by Skype.
